Jesus, our comfort

Of all the people we could go to for comfort,
Jesus is the only One who truly understands.

He was despised and rejected by men;
a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief;
and as one from whom men hide their faces
He was despised, and we esteemed Him not.
Isaiah 53:3 ESV

praise & worship

Sometimes it does our hearts good to just praise Him.

“The Lord lives, and blessed be my rock, and exalted be my God, the rock of my salvation.”

What if your last words were your last words?

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.

asking & salvation

Most people believe Jesus died to save sinners,
many people believe Jesus rose from the grave,
and as soon as those people ask God to save them,
He does–thanks to Jesus!

Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Romans 10:9, 13 ESV

our plans & God’s sovereignty

We can trust God to change our plans when He has something better in mind.

The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.

life in Christ

Knowing Jesus is knowing Life–for all eternity.

Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
John 11:23-26 ESV

suffering

Christ bestows honor,
and intimacy with Himself,
on those who suffer for His sake.

But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For His sake I have suffered the loss of all things…in order that I may gain Christ.
Philippians 3:7-8 ESV

security

Jesus is not fickle.
He will not change His mind.
He keeps whatever He purchases.
He will keep you.

And they sang a new song: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.”
The Lord is your keeper. He will keep your life.

May our words be helpful, not hurtful;
may they bring healing to the hearer, not harm.

From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.

goals

If we make it our aim to please God,
He will see to it that we do.

Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.

worship

May God give us eyes to see His beauty,
and hearts that long to linger in His presence.

One thing I have asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in His temple.
Psalm 27:4 ESV

mercy

God loved us first.

What if [God] did this to make the riches of His glory known to the objects of His mercy, whom He prepared in advance for glory–even us… As He says in Hosea: “I will call them ‘my people’ who are not my people; and I will call her ‘my loved one’ who is not my loved one.”
Romans 9:23-25 NIV
