grace

If given the opportunity,
at the end of our lives,
to look back on our lives,
Christians and non-Christians alike will see
God’s grace upon grace upon grace.

The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
He will not always chide,
nor will he keep his anger forever.
Psalm 103:8-9 ESV

God vs. stress

It’s good to remember exactly Who
is taking care of you.

“O Lord, the God of Israel, enthroned above the cherubim,
you are the God, you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth;
you have made heaven and earth.”
2 Kings 19:15 ESV

Christianity & repentance

Christians aren’t perfect,
just sorry for their sins.

I have not come to call the righteous
but sinners to repentance.
Repent therefore, and turn again,
that your sins may be blotted out.
Luke 5:32, Acts 3:19 ESV

trials first, heaven later

In this life we may miss out on many things,
but not to worry, after this life,
every pleasure will be ours–for all eternity.

The ransomed of the Lord will return.
They will enter Zion with singing;
everlasting joy will crown their heads.
Gladness and joy will overtake them,
and sorrow and sighing will flee away.
Isaiah 51:11 NIV

the Holy Spirit and prayer

The Holy Spirit excites in us a need
to spend time with God.
Without His leading,
we would not want to pray.

But you, beloved, building yourselves up
in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit,
keep yourselves in the love of God.
Jude 20-21a ESV

sin and the devil

Satan tries to destroy
our relationships, peace, and joy,
by tempting us to sin.
Even what we consider a minor sin,
is a major victory for him.

Be sober-minded; be watchful.
Your adversary the devil prowls around
like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
Resist him.

1 Peter 5:8-9a ESV

this life

We live on the verge of hurting someone’s feelings,
or having our feelings hurt,
of offending someone, or being offended.
We need God to keep our hearts and mouths from both.

Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth;
keep watch over the door of my lips!
For every kind of beast and bird,
of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed
and has been tamed by mankind,
but no human being can tame the tongue.
Psalm 141:3, James 3:7-8 ESV

help

Two words come in real handy
whenever we get in a bind–Help Lord!

And Asa cried to the Lord his God,
“O Lord, there is none like you to help,
between the mighty and the weak.
Help us, O Lord our God, for we rely on you.”
2 Chronicles 14:11 ESV

oh happy day

It’s good to remember that happy day
when Jesus washed all our sins away.

Restore to me the joy of Your salvation.

sin and superiority

Our own sin reminds us
that we are not better than anybody else–
just forgiven.

Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another,
for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God
so that at the proper time he may exalt you.
1 Peter 5:5-6 ESV

sin and salvation

Jesus knows the sins for which He suffered;
let’s not grieve His heart by continuing to practice them.

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us… in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
Romans 5:8, 6:4 ESV

made new

May God find in us a heart like His.

The Lord has sought out a man after his own heart.

joy and peace

Cheer up! A better day is on its way.

“I have told you these things,
so that in Me you may have peace.
In this world you will have trouble.
But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

false prophets

Just because someone says he is speaking for God,
doesn’t mean he actually is.

On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
Matthew 7:22-23 ESV

provision & care

God never tires of taking care of you.

My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot be moved;
he who keeps you will not slumber.

purpose

Psalm 29:2 is my mission statement–
not that I always accomplish it,
or even always remember to try.
But I know it’s why I’m here;
it’s what I’m supposed to be doing.

“Ascribe unto God the glory due His name.”

repentance

Turn from your failures
to the God who forgives.

that your sins may be blotted out.

sin & confession

Thinking that we should never fail,
or should not have failed the last time we did,
is thinking higher thoughts of ourselves
than we ought.

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves,
and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins,
he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar,
and his word is not in us.
1 John 1:8-10 ESV

God’s protection

God never leaves His children unattended.

who daily bears us up;
God is our salvation.

God speaks

People crave a personal God,
one who actually speaks to them–our God does!
To hear Him, we need to open our Bibles.

All Scripture is breathed out by God
and profitable for teaching, for reproof,
for correction, and for training in righteousness,
that the man of God may be competent,
equipped for every good work.
For the word of God is living and active.
2 Timothy 3:16-17, Hebrews 4:12 ESV
