One Minute with God

People are not usually honored for sleeping late.

When making our plans, it’s good to remember,
God may have something better in mind.

Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills,
we will live and do this or that.”

Reading and memorizing Scripture is vital.
Having the Holy Spirit to remind us
of those verses is vital-er.

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you
another Helper, to be with you forever, even the
Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive,
because it neither sees him nor knows him. You
know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.
John 14:16-17 ESV

We have today. Let’s live it boldly.

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go
into such and such a town and spend a year there
and trade and make a profit”–yet you do not know
what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you
are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.

Our best prayer: God, please save me.

We have a personal tutor, who is with us every day,
teaching us what we need to know,
when we need to know it.

God will transform our bad attitudes
into good ones, if we ask Him to.
In most bad-attitude situations,
continual asking is necessary.

Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!
Psalm 139:23-24 ESV

When we rely on someone or something other than God,
we greatly diminish the possibility of success.
However, when we fully rely on God,
the possibilities go through the roof.

At that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah
and said to him, “Because you relied on the king of Syria,
and did not rely on the Lord your God,
the army of the king of Syria has escaped you.
Were not the Ethiopians and the Libyans a huge army
with very many chariots and horsemen? Yet because
you relied on the Lord, He gave them into your hand.

Every time we decide not to rely on God, we sin.
Every time we rely on God, we win.

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro
throughout the whole earth, to give strong support
to those whose heart is blameless toward Him.

The Spirit works in us every good thing
God desires of us. To please God,
we are 100% dependent on Him.

But you will receive power
when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.

May Jesus’ words, “Peace, be still,”
effect our hearts, as they did those waves.

And He arose, and rebuked the wind,
and said unto the sea, Peace, be still.
And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
Mark 4:39 KJV

If seeing the riches and wisdom of Solomon
took the queen’s breath away, imagine
how we will feel in the presence of the One
who gave Solomon his riches and wisdom.

And when the queen of Sheba had seen
the wisdom of Solomon, the house that he had built…
there was no more breath in her.
And all the kings of the earth sought the presence
of Solomon to hear his wisdom,
which God had put into his mind.

With God, it’s always best
to ask for what we don’t deserve.

He does not treat us as our sins deserve
or repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is His love for those who fear Him.

It stands to reason that the more a person suffers here,
on earth, the greater his joy will be there, in heaven,
where suffering will be replaced with everlasting joy.

The ransomed of the Lord will return.
They will enter Zion with singing;
everlasting joy will crown their heads.
Gladness and joy will overtake them,
and sorrow and sighing will flee away.
Isaiah 51:11 NIV

Freaking out rarely helps a situation;
it’s better to settle ourselves down
and remember God’s faithfulness.

O Lord of hosts,
blessed is the one who trusts in You!
Psalm 84:12 ESV

We know our hearts are in the right place,
when we long for the treasures this world does not offer.

But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor rust destroys
and where thieves do not break in and steal.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

We become desperate for this life to be good,
when we forget that we’re going someplace better.

Instead, they were longing for a better country–
a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be
called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.
