He knows if you’ve been bad or good,
so be good for goodness sake.

Jesus Christ is coming to town!
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven
with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel,
and with the sound of the trumpet of God.
And the dead in Christ will rise first.
Then we who are alive, who are left,
will be caught up together with them in the clouds
to meet the Lord in the air,
and so we will always be with the Lord.

We can rejoice because Christ’s first coming won’t be His last.
The key to answered prayer–
is prayer.
“Ask, and it will be given to you.”

Here’s some good advice–
get good advice.
Where there is no guidance, a people falls,
but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.
The way of a fool is right in his own eyes,
but a wise man listens to advice.
Proverbs 11:14, 12:15 ESV
Our attitudes reflect the things on which we dwell.
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing,
give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ESV
The best way to calm our hearts in a world gone wrong
is to seek a God-given wisdom that teaches us about
a Holy God who is on His throne ruling all things well.
This wisdom says:
“Whoever listens to me will dwell secure
and will be at ease, without dread of disaster.”
Proverbs 1:33 ESV
God never disciplines His own
without also giving them the ability to obey.
That’s why we can say:
The Lord’s discipline always produces
more joy for us and more glory for Him.
Blessed is the man whom you discipline, O Lord,
and whom you teach out of your law.
Psalm 94:12 ESV
When we ask God to bless us, we aren’t being selfish.
We’re admitting that His blessing is better than anything else.
Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying,
“Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border,
and that your hand might be with me,
and that you would keep me from harm
so that it might not bring me pain!”
And God granted what he asked.
1 Chronicles 4:10 ESV
When we’re gone, people will talk.
With God on our side, we can give them a great story!
One generation shall commend Your works to another,
and shall declare Your mighty acts.
They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom and tell of Your power,
to make known to the children of man Your mighty deeds,
and the glorious splendor of Your kingdom.

If we think God is a little bit trustworthy,
we will have a little bit of peace.
However, if we trust Him completely…
The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding,
will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

When we long for God’s favor more than anything else,

The decisions of men do not deter the plans of God;
they accomplish them!
History confirms this over and over again.
“For thus says the Lord: When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will visit you, and I will fulfill to you my promise and bring you back to this place. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”
Jesus said: “I lay down my life for the sheep… No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord.”

If we have one friend who gives godly advice,
we are truly blessed.
The righteous choose their friends carefully,
but the way of the wicked leads them astray.

If it’s easy for us to love people,

we’re supposed to love.

what benefit is that to you? For even sinners
love those who love them… But love your enemies,

of the Most High, for He is kind to the ungrateful
and the evil.”

God just may be the only parent
who is not bothered by continual asking.
Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them
that they should always pray and not give up.

God doesn’t overlook our sins–
He helps us overcome them.
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man.
God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability,
but with the temptation He will also provide the way of escape,
that you may be able to endure it.
1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV
Zion is the city of Jerusalem, where Jesus the Messiah
will some day return to establish His eternal kingdom.
Psalm 84:5 paints a picture of our lives here as a journey
leading us ever closer to that beautiful city of God.
“Blessed are those whose strength is in You,
in whose heart are the highways to Zion.”
I think this is my new favorite verse!
This is personal; one I’m still learning.
Maybe you’ll be able to relate:
If I would have just given my problem to God,
instead of stressing over it, I would have seen
that He was on my side all along!
Lord, help me remember that next time.
Let Your work be shown to your servants,
and Your glorious power to their children.
Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us.
