Christian living

An explanation of how to live
a victorious Christian life
can be narrowed down
to two words–trust God.

Then the king was exceedingly glad, and commanded that Daniel be taken up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no kind of harm was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.
Daniel 6:23 ESV

God’s delight

God loves taking care of us.

“The Lord be exalted, who delights in the well-being of His servant.”

real people, real God

Christians are real people
with real problems
who know a real God–personally.

Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me.”
Jeremiah 9:23-24 ESV

no regrets

No man has ever regretted trusting God.

Nebuchadnezzar answered and said, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent His angel and delivered His servants, who trusted in Him.”
Daniel 3:28 ESV

importance of a good reputation

Our God has a reputation for delivering His people,
and He is bound and determined to keep it that way.
Knowing this, gives the Christian courage,
in even the worst situations.

“If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king.”
Daniel 3:17 ESV

grace, our story

Grace upon grace upon grace–
our story, our hope, our joy, our comfort.

For by grace are ye saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves:
it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV

regrets and blessings

Regrets become blessings
when we allow them to teach us
to do better the next time.

As we have therefore opportunity,
let us do good unto all men,
especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
Galatians 6:10 KJV

grace

The child of God
can not out sin
the grace of God.

But where sin abounded,
grace did much more abound.

spring

When we think we can’t take one more day of winter,
it’s good to remember, God promises spring.

“While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat,
summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.”

Genesis 8:22 ESV

help as needed

Our struggles are common to man…
and Jesus understands.

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace,
that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

lead on

The Lord leads us on right paths,
otherwise we would not notice them,
let alone follow them.

He leadeth me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

God vs. evil

God is not wondering what to do about all the evil going on in the world.
He knows exactly how and when He will stop it.

The fierce anger of the LORD will not turn back
until He has executed and accomplished the intentions of His mind.
In the latter days you will understand this.

plans

Things don’t always go as planned–
there’s a reason for that…

A man’s heart plans his way,
But the LORD directs his steps.

joy and doubt

Oh the joy we forfeit
when we doubt
God will act
on our behalf.

From of old no one has heard or perceived by the ear,
no eye has seen a God besides You,
who acts for those who wait for Him.

worth reading

If the Old Testament wasn’t important,
it would be a lot shorter!

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching,
for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
that the man of God my be competent, equipped for every good work.

faithful and forgiving

God’s faithfulness to forgive is not a license to sin,
but rather our only hope after we do.

But this I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
His mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is Your faithfulness.
“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“therefore I will hope in Him.”

the Bible

Our favorite verses are nestled between others.
They are little nuggets, just tiny glimpses of God’s glory,
when compared to the storehouse of treasures in the Bible.

Oh, how I love Your law!
It is my meditation all the day.

feelings and offenses

When our feelings have been hurt,
and our sense of what’s right offended,
it’s wise to remember,
in every way we have been offended,
we have offended God worse.
And although He is holy
and has never hurt us,
He forgives our offenses,
every time we ask Him to.

For although they knew God,
they did not honor Him as God
or give thanks to Him,
but they became futile in their thinking,
and their foolish hearts were darkened.

For all have sinned
and fall short of the glory of God,
and are justified by His grace as a gift,
through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

If we confess our sins,
He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Romans 1:21, 3:23-24, 1 John 1:9 ESV

persistence in doing good

As soon as we begin to think
our good deeds won’t make a difference,
we stop doing them.

But God says:
And let us not grow weary of doing good,
for in due season we will reap,
if we do not give up.
Galatians 6:9 ESV

persistence and prayer

As soon as we begin to think
our prayers won’t make a difference,
we stop praying.

But God says:
The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
